Hound Mix, female, 3 years old
Dollar is a very sweet natured girl who was found in the streets of Pakistan with a severely broken leg. She was rescued by a lovely lady and transported to the U.K. where they attempted to fix the leg but ultimately ended up having to remove it. Sadly the lady who rescued her passed away and we were asked to take dollar and find her a loving home.
Dollar has been a joy in our care but being an ex street dog she is understandably anxious in new surroundings and takes time to trust people however she has not been aggressive or offensive.
We did place her in a home but unfortunately they gave up in 48hrs because Dollar would not let them put her harness on and hid every time they picked it up. :( aside from that they said she was perfect and very friendly and playful.
Dollar needs a home that understands that she will take a little bit of time to trust new people and be comfortable in new surroundings. Her trusted handlers here can do anything with her.
Dollar is dog friendly but does not like to share her stuff so needs a dog free home. She could live with children ages 13+.
Please ensure you read our behavioural issue disclaimer prior to making an application for her.
Vizsla, male, 3years old.
Reuben was picked up by the dog warden as a stray. When his owners were contacted they claimed they were moving house and were not in a position to have him anymore. He was presented for euthanasia when his stray hold was up and we jumped at the chance to make this good boy a Pupcake.
Reuben
Vizsla, male, 3years old.
Reuben was picked up by the dog warden as a stray. When his owners were contacted they claimed they were moving house and were not in a position to have him anymore. He was presented for euthanasia when his stray hold was up and we jumped at the chance to make this good boy a Pupcake.
Reuben was recently adopted but sadly retuned after 2 months for displaying lead reactivity issues outside of the home and reactivity inside the home with visiting delivery drivers. His owners did not feel confident enough to work with him and felt he needed a more experienced home to help him.
We have noted some anxiety since first arriving into rescue. To be honest we feel this is more the stress of losing his home and going into a local authority kennels where he dropped weight and was very stressed and anxious.
Vizslas are very loyal dogs; they love their people with everything they have and are the worlds best Velcro dog.
When Reuben arrived he bonded instantly to our behaviourist and would follow her around everywhere. So much so she would trip over him frequently however over time this calmed down and he became less dependent on her.
We found at first he would try to bolt through doors after her and would panic hugely at being restrained by anyone other than Liz (the behaviourist.) On one occasion he did growl at someone for trying to grab him to prevent him following. We can understand the anxiety around losing people important to him though given everything he’s been through and this did diminish with time; Liz had no issues restraining him and he didn’t show any separation anxiety behaviour around her going out. He just didn’t like seeing her leave.
Since entering a new home environment it has become apparent Reuben has some anxiety issues about people and dogs approaching his owners outside also. This only manifested on lead though; not off lead. When people approached Reuben was incredibly distressed and vocal and would lunge and bark. He did not display this behaviour at the rescue.
Reuben is a lovely enthusiastic lively dog with huge warmth and energy. He has a good level of basic training and is just a typical crazy happy Vizsla. He does jump up though which can be quite annoying.
We have found him to be a wonderful social chap with no huge issues but are firm and confident with him which in turn transfers onto him keeping him calm. He LOVES his crate and happily goes in there at night and sleeps calmly. He is also happy to go in it when you go out.
He takes a lot of confidence from his handler but as we have seen occasionally will growl when he is uncomfortable with the situation when not handled by HIS person. This was more out of desperation though but potential adopters will need at accept that we cannot rule this out. Especially in a new situation with new handlers.
Due to his bite history and behavioural issues Reuben will need an experienced understanding home and you will need ensure you have read our behavioural issue disclaimer prior to making an application for him.
Reuben could share his home with suitable canine companions. He has even been fine with dog savvy cats. He needs a home with children over the age of 18 years.

Gretchen is a stunning sensitive girl who struggles hugely with life outside her comfort zone. She has not been hugely socialised or given opportunities to learn about the world and as a result is very anxious.
Gretchen has come on well in our care but the huge upheaval of losing her home and coming into rescue set her back hugely. She is starting to bond now but is still noticeably anxious.
Gretchen is housebroken and crate trained. She has a good degree of basic obedience and is a huge foodie. Gretchen needs a quiet stable home with understanding of anxiety and experience with gundog breeds. She is going to make an incredible dog for the right home.
Due to her behavioural issues Gretchen will need an experienced understanding home and you will need ensure you have read our behavioural issue disclaimer prior to making an application for her.
Gretchen could share her home with suitable canine companion but is dog selective. She previously lived with a calm male Airedale. She needs a home with children over the age of 16 years.
Dalmatian, male, 2 years old.
Pongo came to us after he was taken to a local vet for euthanasia for nipping a child. Pongo is a lovely lad but gets overaroused easily causing him to redirect. In this particular bite instance he was barking at a fence and caught a child in the crossfire.
Pongo came to us incredibly overweight and we have generally found him to be quite greedy and food motivated but he is on a strict diet. He has a good level of basic training but pulls heavily on the lead so requires a head collar. He can be very strong. His previous home report that his recall can be hit and miss too.
Pongo is a good boy who has a degree of anxiety; he’s very friendly but can be reactive when he is unsure. He has found kennel life quite stressful.
Pongo is housebroken, crate trained and non destructive in the home. He travels well in the car also.
Due to his bite history and behavioural issues Pongo will need an experienced understanding home and you will need ensure you have read our behavioural issue disclaimer prior to making an application for him.
Pongo is great with dogs and could share his home with one. He also does not seem phased by dog savvy cats. He needs a home with children over the age of 13 years.
Corgi x JRT, male, 15 months old.
Dingo has come into rescue due to becoming intolerant of the children in the home. He is a sweet loving crazy puppy 90% of the time but can become snappy and difficult around certain handling and situations. His caregivers did not feel they were able to safely have him around their children so put him in kennels until a rescue space could be found. Unfortunately this was not forthcoming and he very nearly ended up being euthanized, luckily we agreed to take him.
Dingo can be defensive about being touched at times. It appears someone may have unintentionally hurt him at some point and now he sometimes preempts it because he has a negative association with it. He can worry about certain situations also and become snappy surrounding those. The vet confirmed no pain source for the behavior. Our behaviorist assessed Dingo and whilst he did not show signs of aggression he can be anxious at times which we believe causes the him to behave like this. He is like this more with children, which we believe may be where they are too quick and noisy for him.
In a lot of ways Dingo is a typical puppy. He’s very energetic and always on the go. He’s really friendly and excitable and loves bombing around the paddocks with the other dogs.
Dingo is crate trained and housebroken and knows some basic commands. He’s been a good boy in foster but can over analyse situations and be anxious around them. He tries to avoid going into the garden when it’s raining and then can worried when he thinks you are going to a lead on him so will panic and snap. We to distract him with treats first and then use a slip lead and this is working better.
Dingo is only small and very smart and keen to learn. He would make a fantastic sports dog prospect for agility.
Due to his bite history and behavioural issues Dingo will need an experienced understanding home and you will need ensure you read our behavioural issue disclaimer prior to making an application for him.
Dingo can live with other dogs of similar energy levels and children over the age of 16 years.
We do our best to keep our site up-to-date with the animals at our shelter. If you are interested in adopting please fill out an application form.

We can keep applications open for anywhere up to a 2 week period to allow everyone a fair opportunity to submit their interest- or until we find a suitable home offer past this deadline- this means that you may not get an answer straight away after submitting your application as we DO NOT run on a first-come-first-serve basis. When you have submitted your form and applications have been closed we will go through every application and assess the home that best suits the dog’s criteria. If your home offer and information matches the specific requirements of the dog in question then we may invite you to conduct a video homecheck that can be submitted through our Facebook page messenger or directly to our WhatsApp. We will require you to video the general living areas that the dog will have access to and your garden, including the perimeter to check for safety. If you are invited to submit a video homecheck we require this to be submitted within a 42h period if not a time discussed between the rescue and yourselves, otherwise the next suitable applicant will be contacted and your application bypassed should we not hear back. (PLEASE DO MAKE SURE TO CHECK SPAM/JUNK FOLDERS).
Regrettably not all applicants will be successful and if your application is not taken forward this is not necessarily a negative reflection on the home that you have to offer. Unfortunately with more popular breeds we can receive hundreds of applications -per dog- that we need to condense into one chosen applicant. This is why we ask that you be as honest and detailed as possible in your application as the slightest piece of information may set your application apart from all of the others.
If you are not successful you will unfortunately not receive a reply as we simply do not have the woman power to reply to every application. When the dog is reserved we will put up a post on the page stating that applications are closed so that you are made aware of when a home for the dog has been found.
If you are chosen to move forward and your video homecheck is approved we will arrange for you to attend an appointment here at the Pupcakes Rescue shelter in Boston, Lincs.
If you are invited to an appointment we will require you to make a £70 non-refundable, non-transferable reservation payment by PayPal or bank transfer , this payment will reserve the dog for you and cover the resources required to have the dog groomed, prepared for adoption and the time required to conduct the appointment. Additionally, we will not progress with any further applications and will secure you an appointment slot. If you do not wish to pay the reservation cost then we are afraid we will terminate your application to undertake other applications. Unfortunately due to a considerable number of past applicants not fully considering the dedication required for taking on a rescue dog, not reading the Ads properly, not doing adequate independent research into the size and temperament of the breed they are applying for or considering the restriction necessary to keep all involved safe, we now have to implement that this non-refundable and non-transferable reservation is mandatory before being able to book an appointment into our schedule
Upon a successful adoption the deposit will be deducted from the minimum adoption donation of:
🐾£480 (under 1 year old)
🐾£390 (under 2 years old )
🐾£350 (2-4 years old )
🐾£270 (5-8 years old )
🐾£150 (9+ years old )
🐾£800 (Chinese dogs)
Please do be aware that our adoption fee is non-refundable and non-transferable to other dogs in rescue care.
We accept cash payments, PayPal transfer (Friends & Family/ Personal Payment ONLY) or bank transfer upon completion. Due to internet/signal connectivity issues on the property please do come prepared. We advise that all payment resources be brought along to the appointment (bank cards, mobile devices linked to accounts in case your provider requests account confirmation or two factor authentication to be able to log in) failure to pay the fee will result in the adoption not being able to be completed.
WE DO NOT ACCEPT CHEQUE, MONZO OR CARD PAYMENTS THROUGH A HANDSET.
If using PAYPAL please make sure that you have set up your account with an active bank card and can easily access your PAYPAL account through the new security measures before you attend the meeting. Please make sure that you can successfully make a payment to limit disappointment as we cannot allow a dog to leave the centre without completing payment.
When the reservation is paid this will hold the dog for you for 7 days to allow us to arrange a mutually convenient appointment for you to come meet and complete your adoption. In the event that you cancel before the meeting the dog will be placed back up for adoption and the deposit will not be refunded. This is to limit the amount of applicants that adopt a flippant attitude towards our process and ultimately misuse our support and limited resources when we could have offered another application the opportunity to adopt the dog. This approach means that dogs aren’t kept in boarding for unnecessary periods of time or continuously let down when they could be placed in their loving homes and means that we can support another dog coming into rescue and keeping families and owners safe.
Space is of vital importance to our mission, for every dog let down and remaining in kennels we have to turn away another dog that may be at risk of euthanasia or in an environment that may prove dangerous for their families so the sooner that we can help find dogs in our care their homes, the sooner we can save others and their families from stressful and dangerous situations.
If the adoption is successful your new family companion will leave with a harness, lead and collar to start off their initial journey. They will leave flea treated, wormed, vaccinated, microchipped and neutered (age depending).
If you are not capable of travelling to our centre in Boston at this time please do not submit an application.
To limit travel we ask that applicants be very sure of their commitment to the dog that you are applying for and capability to manage any behavioural issues that may need further attention. Please make sure to conduct further, individual research into the dog, the behaviour and breed you are applying for to limit disappointment should expectations not be met when finally meeting the dog. We cannot accommodate multiple appointments
If you are invited to an appointment please do be aware that due to the complex natures of the dogs that we take on, their appointments can take anywhere up to and often over 3 hours for us to be able to fully cover all the information needed for you to make an informed decision about your capability to take on a rescue dog.
We DO NOT have a toilet facility available to the public so do make sure to visit a restroom before attending.
We respectfully ask that you do not apply for a dog or homecheck if you are not fully dedicated to the dog and the responsibilities that comes with bringing a complex, emotional individual into your home, especially a dog with behavioural issues or a bite history. Dogs can take months to feel fully settled and safe within a new environment so please do be considerate of your capability to support them and persevere long term to make an adoption work.
We hope that this helps to explain how to apply and what to expect when doing so.
If you have any further questions please do message us directly and we will endeavour to return your message as soon as we are capable.
